Athens City Schools Food Services offers healthy meals every school day. Lunch may be purchased at the elementary schools for $2.00 and at the middle and high schools for $2.25. All the students can fill out an application to see if they qualify for free or reduced meals. The reduced cost is $0.30 for breakfast and $0.40 for lunch. House Bill 530 requires public and community schools in which at least 20% of enrolled children are eligible for free meals to implement school breakfast programs. Schools in the Athens City School District currently serving
breakfast under HB 530 are Athens Middle, Chauncey Elementary, Morrison Elementary, The Plains Elementary, and West Elementary. Both Athens High School and East Elementary School have less than 20% free lunch students at this time. If you have questions about the free or reduced application, please call 740-797-4544 ext. 225.
