Gifted Services offers intervention for qualified students in kindergarten through high school.  This service allows students to receive academic modifications during class throughout the school day.  This service includes:

Teacher Collaboration:
The intervention specialist collaborates with teachers in various grade levels to plan curriculum modifications that fit the needs of gifted students.

Resource Materials:  Accelerated or enrichment resources are available to teachers and can be utilized through the Gifted Department.  An intervention specialist can recommend resources and design additional resources such as extension menus, learning contracts, tiered lesson examples, etc.

Strategies and Methods to target gifted students:  From management options to teaching alternative ways to process information, a GIS (gifted intervention specialist) can suggest modifications that specifically help the gifted student effectively master academic concepts.

Student Observations for identification and referral: A specialist can help teachers with the referral process, and evaluating difficulty levels for gifted students, as well as, tracking growth and producing adequate yearly progress.

Curriculum Differentiation:  The intervention specialist can help teachers tier lessons, implement pace acceleration in a core content area, provide menus and utilize different methods and resources to meet the needs of gifted students as well as typical students.
