As students and families facing homeless conditions are already under significant stress, it is the policy of the Athens City School District to resolve any educational placement issues for such students as quickly as possible.
In the event that a homeless student’s parent(s) disputes the educational placement of the student, an appeal can be made by appearance or in writing to the Superintendent of the Athens City School District.
If further dispute is registered, after a review of the facts of the situation, a final decision will be made by a committee composed of the District Homeless Liaison Officer, the District Director of Special Services, the Superintendent, and at least one member of the Athens City School District Board of Education. Such a decision will be rendered within 10 business days of the disputed decision.
