Written Educational Plans (WEP)

Written Educational Plans

Written Educational Plans (WEP) are designed to document modified services for gifted students in the Athens City School District.

The State of Ohio requires gifted students to have a written educational plan for each identified student.

HOW ARE WEPS USEFUL?

WEPs can be used for various purposes:
  • They provide a history of the student including how and when they were identified and the services received.
  • They can be used to share modifications implemented through instruction or assessment (i.e. differentiation and/or projects).
  • They provide parents with information about their child’s educational needs and how that need is being met.
Written Educational Plans include information such as:  Areas of identification, service setting(s), service option(s), assessment tools, scores on assessments and evaluation tools used.

Parents will have an opportunity to view their child's written educational plan each year during fall conferences with their child's classroom teacher. Please note that the WEP being reviewed provides information from previous years (as with Target Rit Ranges from MAP assessments) as well as information pertaining to services being rendered during the current year (Service Setting and Service Options).  Your child's teacher can only answer questions regarding services being rendered in the current year.  Additional details regarding the WEP can be found in the brochure provided under "informational brochures" on this website.  All other questions should be referred to the Gifted Services office.
